Music from Sea to Sky - Host Committee Launch Press Release
Everybody’s Workin’ for That Weekend!
When Loverboy wrote the classic hit more than 25 years ago they had to be thinking of March 26-29, 2009 in Vancouver.
In addition to celebrating Loverboy’s induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame that weekend, Vancouver hosts the 2009 JUNO Awards. It will be one of the largest music events in our city’s history.
Vancouver is no stranger to impressive music events. Elvis Presley and the Beatles performed at the old Empire Stadium. The Stones opened their 1972 tour at the Pacific Coliseum. And who could forget when the Irish Rovers established the first in their worldwide chain of pubs in Gastown!
The celebration for the 2009 JUNO Awards will join that list - showcasing Canada’s best musical talent to the world.
Host Committee Chair Bob D’Eith says his team is thrilled to be involved in Canada’s premier music celebration. “We will create an environment which is warm, exciting and inspiring. By combining country, rock, pop, urban, and much more in one harmonious event we will create Music from Sea to Sky.”
The Host Committee is working to support four days of local concerts and popular fan events. The heart of downtown Vancouver will be alive with special events and live performances that span three full city blocks.
Along with event producer, John Donnelly, of Donnelly & Associates Event Marketing, the Vancouver host committee is pleased to present the Peak Performance Stage at the WestJet Street Party on Granville Street. They are planning a huge celebration to highlight the best recording artists from BC and across Canada.
Local radio stations have supported the line-up that will feature a mix of music which truly reflects Vancouver’s radio landscape. Donnelly said “We’re thrilled that WestJet and the local radio stations have stepped up to support this event and we’re truly looking forward to inviting both local audiences and visitors from across Canada to celebrate the 2009 JUNO Awards in the heart of the city - on Granville Street.”
The Vancouver hosts can’t wait to welcome everyone and turn it loose at the end of March.
